Getting On It

On my New Year's Resolutions I have been doing pretty well. I have lost just over 4 pounds! I have been only going out for lunch once a week. I have put many things in the garage and posted them on Craig’s List to sell. I also have not bought ONE thing since New Years! I went through the kids clothing tonight and culled out the clothing that was not the right size or not in season. I am doing well!

I am also working on flexibility also and my new work duties are forcing me to more flexible! I have interviewed for one new job and have an on-line test for another. I still enjoy my job but I want something more like I was doing before they changed my duties a few weeks ago. You see I applied for a new job and one of my co-workers got the position so my consolation prize was that I get to do her old duties and they are going to scrap my old duties. Nothing like eliminating your position to make a person feel important in an organization! OK maybe I am still a little bitter. As Laura has pointed out bitterness may be one of my weak points also. Maybe I should add that to my list of things to work on this year.

Welcome 2010

With the New Year here I have been reflecting on what has changed since Jan. 2009. I also suffered a disappointment last month, not receiving a promotion at work, and that too has prompted me to evaluate things. Let’s see last January……

Chris was still in the Police Academy and I believe that he was about to test for firearms. Chris graduated in March and has been on patrol since then. He has also finished four more classes at MSU and is very close to finishing his BS.

Corbin was 18 months old. This was the month that he went in for his shots and he had not gained any weight in six months. The doctor said he was worried and we started giving him pediasure. That was a hard time for me as a mom but Corbin gained weight and now everyone is happy! Corbin was just getting used to having Caura around. He was beginning to kiss her and bring her toys. He was already talking like crazy and climbing on anything he could get his leg on or a good grip on to pull himself up.

Caura was a tiny little bean! She was only a month and a half old. She had that sweet smell all the time and the tiny little newborn cry. She was smiling and holding toys. She was beginning to sleep through the night.

It was hard to get use dto having two babies but some things were easier then than they are now.
Like bath time, they both fit in the small tub and Caura did not splash.

Playtime was easier also because Caura just layed there.
Now she is up running and jumping with Corbin and they seem to love the same toys.

I returned to work from maternity leave and found that my co-worker Gail had worked her booty off so that I would not come back to a huge pile of work. If I thought that it was had to leave Corbin for the first time, it was soo hard to leave both of them after that. My mom was still here to help with the kids for two weeks after I returned to work and she made my life much easier. I was blown away last year because in Jan. 2008 we were happy to have Corbin with us. We had NO idea that within a year God would give us another slice of perfection. Caura was definitely the surprise of 2008 and then her wonderful and quick birth was the highlight of 2009.

We are SO blessed. My children are smart, open, kind, and healthy. We have awesome parents and grandparents who support us and adore our children and lavish them with love and attention as often as they can. Chris and I both have stable and adequate jobs that we enjoy more days than not. We have a home, two cars, and food on the table. This year Chris and I will celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and this January marks 13 years since I became Chris’ girlfriend in high school. Although I find myself always wanting more when I sit down and list what I have I can’t help but think “what more can I ask for?” Still I desire a job that gives more freedom with my time and leave while also giving me more opportunities to help my clients. I do want all these projects around the house to be finished. I would like a new car (we have a 1998 and a 2002 now). I would like to join the YMCA and have the kids in gymnastics. I would love for Chris to finish his Bachelors Degree and for me to begin my Masters Degree. I am trying to discover how to practice humbleness and progression at the same time. Let’s just see how it goes in 2010.

I couldn't resist here are some pictures from Jan. 2008

Vacation Pictures

We went to the Rockport Beach on Dec. 31, 2009.
It was too cool to swim but not too cool to play in the sand and walk in the water.

Caura loved the sand. She did not even slide or swing at the playground.
She had a hard time walking in it at first but she got the hang of it quickly.

OK so we all loved playing in the sand!
The sand was perfect for sand castles, moist but not wet, but as soon as two or three towers were made Corbin or Caura gleefully knocked them over.

Caura & Laura, So happy together!

It was a great day, a great vacation all around really.

New Year's Party! We ate black eyed peas for luck!
Corbin ate a lot with this huge spoon!

Caura, Andrea, & Breanna
They may not have as much luck as Corbin because most of their food ended up on the floor!

Coven, Corbin, Aiden, and Elisha
Corin had fun at the 'Big Boy' table.

New Year’s Resolutions

We don’t usually make resolutions but this year I am. The reason I don’t make resolutions is because I hate letting myself down, and Chris is always very helpful (like never wants me to cheat on a diet). That should play to my advantage. So here they are-

1. Lose weight/get healthy

2. Have an awesome 10th anniversary party in Aug.

3. Pay off ALL credit cards and medical bills

4. Build a savings account

5. Shed some things we don’t need and limit what we bring in the house

6. Only go out to eat once a week.

I am both excited and nervous about this New Year.
