Bungled Movie Day

I took the kids to see The Princess and the Frog today and it was a disaster. Here is the story-

I have a friend, K, who also has a two year old, E, and E has never been to the movie theater. K has been asking me to go with her and E as she was thinking that having Corbin there would show E how to act. Since we have all been snowed in we decided to go today with all three kids. I should have known that the churning in my stomach was not hunger but my instincts saying "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!!” We got to the movie on time, a miracle, and we went to some good seats. We went to a 12:50 showing on Sunday thinking that it would not crowd, we were wrong. Everything was good through the previews. I was so proud! I had packed both kids blankets, snacks, and two Sippy cups each. Corbin ad Caura were sitting like angles watching the screen. Caura was even falling asleep! About thirty minutes in to the movie, a great move by the way, Corbin stands up as begins to announce the theater that he needed to poop. He said "I need to poop! I need to go potty! The po po is coming out of by bottom". I almost laughed at myself because here I was thinking "Oh this is a great example for E and K to see how it is done", what do they say something like pride comes before the fall. Well we fell and we fell fast. Also Corbin is NOT potty training right now. I mean sure he has been wearing for pull ups for almost a year and we have a small plastic potty in each bathroom but he does not go in the potty or even ask to go the potty on a regular basis. So, K said she would hold Caura, I gathered up the diaper bag (not knowing what to expect), and Corbin and I maneuvered our way through the innocent bystanders and to the restroom. To my ultimate dismay there was NOT a changing station in the bathroom. I panicked and checked the door, maybe I was in the men’s room, but there was a neat little woman shape on the door but no changing station inside. OK so I went in the handicapped stall and began to peel off Corbin's pants. There was NOTHING in his pull up. He wanted to sit on the potty, so I put him up there and he did NOTHING. He said he was done and we headed back to the theater. When I got in to the hall way I found K standing there holding Caura and E, with a defeated look on her face. She said that E did not want to stay after Corbin left and now E wanted to go home. She asked me if I could go get her stuff. I, not wanting to face the other movie goers again, said that I would stay with the kids while she got the stuff. While in the hall way E said he wanted to go into the theater, so we went in. K sat with him by the door and we went back to our seats. OK now we could relax and enjoy the movie. It did not take long for E to decide that he did want to go home and I saw K take him out the side door. It was not long after that when Corbin got the urge to poop again. (OK so yesterday I bribed him with candy to pick up his toys; maybe I am paying for that tactic now!) and he once again announced it to while theater. Now I was done. I began packing up ALL of our things, suddenly feeling like I have over packed for a 90 minute movie, and trying to get us out of there so others could enjoy the, Oh so good, movie. In this process Caura hit her head, Corbin was screaming about poop, and I was franticly trying to cram all our stuff in the bags. When we got out of the theater Corbin began crying for his cup. I looked for the one that was out, the other one was at the bottom of the overflowing bag, and realized that I had left it in the theater. The cup had to be sacrificed! We made it to the car and home. By the time we got home both kids were asleep and I was able to relax with a Dr. Pepper and expelling this story on my blog. The moral of this story is that you should never think that you are the best mom in the room because your toddlers will surely put you in your place and you should always have one adult for each toddler ANY time you go in public. For anyone who would have gotten annoyed by our children in the theater today then SORRY but it was a kid’s movie and it WAS during the matinee.

CHRISTmas Time

So, we were stuck home while Chris worked. We finally left the house last night to have a Christmas Dinner, at Denny's. I had planned on being in Bluegrove and so I did not have anything good. We started calling around at 5:30 and at that time Denny's had stopped letting people in until they had everyone served. At 7:30 we got the Denny's and still had to wait an hour for food. It was good food though. The pictures below are from that hour we were waiting. I wanted to ask someone to take a picture of the four of us but Chris though that was too silly. On Christmas Eve we opened gifts. We have been telling Corbin that Christmas is Jesus' Birthday and Santa brings us gifts to celebrate Jesus' birthday. While we were eating dinner Christmas Eve Corbin was looking at the gifts under the tree. He opened a Christmas card and said "this says Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!” We sang happy birthday to baby Jesus and then opened the gifts. When all the gifts were open Corbin said "Thanks Santa!" Corbin is so sweet and his spirit refreshes me when I get weary.

Santa Came to the Flinn Home Early!

It did quit snowing around 4pm but Chris still had to shovel half the street and the dirveway to get his care in.

Since Chris has to go to work at 6:30 in the morning we opened our gifts tonight. We told Corbin that Santa gave us the gift to give to him and he was very excited about that after he opened a gift he said "thanks Santa!” Caura opened a few but she mainly played with the things that Corbin had already unwrapped. It was fun. The big gift was a play house for the two of them and Corbin got his tractor and pickup truck that he asked Santa for. Caura is already in bed and Corbin is still playing with all the gifts like he has never seen a toy before! Oh! To be young! Enjoy the pictures.

Our sad tree.

Of all the toys Caura liked the $3 play cell phones the best.

Corbin acting like a penguin in half of the play house while Chris worked on the other half.
Merry Christmas to All and to All a Goodnight!

A White Christmas Eve

We woke up this morning to the sound of falling sleet. I had a funny feeling that my plans for the day may have been ruined! Chris texted me at 8 saying that the roads were bad. Corbin and I looked outside and all we saw was SNOW! Ok so for most people this is no surprise on Christmas Eve but since it was like 65 degrees here yesterday and now I could barely load the car without freezing my fingers off, I was a bit surprised. I was determined though because I heard that there was not much ice dust dry snow. So I continued to load the car and get the kids in their Christmas clothes so that we could go to Harry and Betty's house for lunch and presents. At 10 I called Chris and he grounded me. He said that he had already worked too many accidents and he didn't need the next one to be ours. Since we were still bundled up we went outside and played for a little bit. Caura missed out because I guess all the packing wore her out, she is sleeping warm in her bed! Here are some pictures of Corbin in the snow. Chris' dad is coming to get us and take us to the Christmas Eve Festivities! We are so blessed and we wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Caura's first goose egg.

Two little bumps on her head but nothing slows her down.

How great a step ladder can be.

Yesterday I bought a much needed step ladder for the kitchen, I often have to use a chair to get to some of the stuff in my cabinets. I also knew that Corbin and Caura could use it to help us in the kitchen and wash their hands. Well, Caura has not had a chance to us it but Corbin has already "helped" me with the laundry, by pushing the buttons, and washed his hands numerous times. He can even push the ladder into any room he likes and is trying to us it to reach all kinds of things that were previously out of his reach. He has also decided that the ladder can double as a chair and he wants to sit in it at the table for lunch instead of his regular chair. Corbin is so creative. I had no idea that the ladder would entertain him all morning! This is definitely something we will have to keep in the garage and keep an eye on Corbin because there is no telling how he will think of to use it next. The picture below is of Corbin starting the washer for me!

Fun! Fun! and more FUN!!!!!

Birthday Party!
Caura and Chris' birthday party was this weekend November 14. It was a blast!

Caura loves baby dolls and she got the perfect stroller to push them in from Grandma and Grandpa Flinn.

Corbin got sick and that is why he doesn't have a shirt on but he felt good enough to help Caura open her gifts. Caura was most excited about the paper!

Wichita Mountains

While Grandma and Grandpa Johnson were her for her party we went to the Wichita Mountians in Lawton, OK. We all had so much fun and the weather was great!!!

Corbin fed apples to the prarie dogs.

Caura ate the apples!

At the nature center Corbin loves pushing the buttons and hearing the animale sounds. He especily loved the turkey call.

Circus Time

Corbin was mezmorized by the tigers but when he found out that there would not be any monkeys or gorrillas he said "lets go home".

Caura was more interesed in the candy!

What a smile!

Corbin said "look they are flying!!!"

Elmo & Trunk or Treat was a BLAST!!

Elmo Show-

Corbin was glued to the stage and Caura was so excited she did not know what to do! It was so funny to watch her! One moment she was dancing and clapping then she would hug us and laugh. She is the sweetest thing ever.

We relaxed during the break.

Caura never stopped laughing!

Trunk or Treat-

Corbin got so much candy! He said "trick or treat" and "Thank you" to each person. Ladies who watched Chris in the nursery, as a baby, said that Corbin looks like, walks like, behaves like, and sounds like Chris when he was small. They said that watching Corbin was like going back in time!

Today Corbin said "I love candy and I love Halloween!" I think he enjoyed this more than Christmas!

Sesame Street Live Show TONIGHT!!!

We are going to the show tonight and I am so excited! This will be Corbin's second show and Caura's first. I love that we can do this. I remember when I was in grade school and my parents took me to a huge circus. I kept the program forever and those are the kind of memories I want my kids to have. OK so I know that they are too small to remember now. The truth is that these are the kind of memories I want to have with my kids. So many of my friends have children who are older, like 10 to 18+, and watching them makes me think of how fast this time with my little one's is going. I want to soak up every little laugh and hug! I will have pictures and details in the next few days.

Halloween in the Park

Last night we went to a little festival in the park and we had so much fun. Caura and Corbin got to wear their costumes. There was a train ride, bounce house, pony rides, and little games. Corbin went down this giant inflatable slide. The train ride turned out to be a "haunted" ride with zombies and such jumping out of the trees but since it was daylight still Corbin wasn't too scared. When we got in an area that had ivy Corbin said "We are in the jungle!” It was fun! Chris and I did not dress up. Caura was a cat and Corbin was a Cow.

Busy days!

We have been so busy. Last week was Melba's birthday and Corbin decided that she should have a party! Saturday night we had dinner, presents, and cake. It was so much fun! Chidlren add so much to life and really help us to stop and enjoy the moments. During dinner on Saturday night a Caura said her first word! Tom said "o·ho" to Corbin when he spilled sothing and then Caura said "o·ho", clear as day! For anyone who is not going to count that as a word, IT IS. The dictionary defines it as: O·ho (-h) interj. Used to express surprise, comprehension, or mock astonishment. She also saays "hello", it sounds like "He O". She is so cute. On Saturday Morning when I got her out of bed she put her tiny arms around my neck and squeezed me! She is giving us kisses and hugs all the time now. Here are some more pictures from last weekend-

Corbin in the Parakeet Paradise. Poor birds he tried to pet them as much as he fed them!

Corbin hopped and jumped aroud the whole place!

Caura had a great time laughing and playing with anyone that would look at her!

Corbin and David had a good time together. Corbin is a good friend.

We stopped at Bluegrove on the way home to see Grandma and Grandpa!

Grandma made a good dinner and cake!

Grandpa kept us all laughing!

Corbin roped everything! Our Little Cowboy!
