Mother's Day
We had the best day in Buffalo Springs with Chris' grandparents. My mom is sick and Chris' mom is out of town so we headed out to the country to relax and wish Grandma Flinn a happy mothers day. On my drive out I passed our old high school and was reminded of those years. Being mothers day I thought of our mothers. My mom and I grew closer as I aged so high school was nice. She was a confidant when I didn't feel like I had nanny friends. I met my now mother in-law when I was 16. The first night I went over to Chris' house to ' study' he shut his door and I said "you should probably leave it open" he said "I always close my door". This was the first time he had a girl over. A few minutes later his mom came in and opened the door ask an unrelated question and left the door open. I have often wondered what his mother thought of me those first months. Her baby boy bringing home a girl, dating for the first time. I have never had the nerve to ask. :) Chris' grandmother was a substitute teacher at our school, so I knew her as Mrs. Flinn. She was and still is, at 80, endearing, easy to be around, and strong. Although I only spent my last 3 years of high school in this area I have been here for an additional 13 years. Driving out this was feels very much like coming home. Nothing changes but me and I am accepted just the same, with loving open arms, each and every time. I had a great day.
